Xopus® based project is awarded the European “eGovernment Good Practice Label”
Dutch software supplier Xopus is pleased to announce that a project based on its Xopus® platform was granted the European “eGovernment Good Practice Label”.
The European eGovernment Awards programme is a project funded by the European Commission aiming to highlight good practices and ensure the dissemination and sharing of new concepts and ideas in the area of ICT-enabled service provision.
On December 3, 2009 assessment organisation epractice.eu attributed the “eGovernment Good Practice Label” to the CVDR project (acronym is the Dutch abbreviation of “Central Provision of Decentralised Regulations”). A first version of this project started in January 2007, and went live in October 2008.
All public authorities in The Netherlands are obliged to make available the full complement of their legislative and regulatory texts to whatever interested party (private citizens, organisations, and professionals needing the information in their work environment, such as civil servants, lawyers, judges, publishing companies).
A database for national legislation has existed for some time. The CVDR project now addresses all other public authorities and regulatory bodies. This avoids duplicate efforts while ensuring consistency and timeliness.
The project allows The Netherlands to comply with all relevant EU rules, and also provides export potential to other European countries.
The ICTU Foundation was the general contractor. One of their subcontractors, STIPP was assigned to deliver the data entry, publication and collaboration functionality. They chose Xopus® as the key interactive, web based platform. Important arguments were:
- Proven stability and versatility
- One of the few software products that could fulfil the principal’s XML requirement.
Laurens van den Oever, Xopus managing director is delighted by this public recognition:
‘The selection of Xopus® once more confirms our software’s unique position to give authors of any computer literacy level full access to a robust and “state-of-the-art” publishing and storage system. The “eGovernment Good Practice Label” again documents its quality and functionality even against such strict and critical requirements.’
