Philips
At Philips Xopus is currently being used to edit all the technical documentation and user manuals that are published with products. Coupled with the content management system at Philips, this saves Philips a massive amount of paperwork, because users can see what they are making. They no longer have to print the document first to see how it will come out.
With the CMS user are able to work directly into the manual; they work 'directly in context'. This results in texts of higher quality, low system learning curves, and a very accesible system. The CMS is used for thousands of manuals per year, has automated connections with translating services, PDF and Indesign rendering, and Quality and Spelling controle.
The people at Philips realized the power of Xopus at a glance, seeing how it would enable them to make certain parts of their production processes more efficient and therefore chose to implement Xopus into their CMS. Xopus' power at editing complex XML documents and keeping them valid was a first demand for Philips. Even though the people at Xopus are extremely technical, it was nonetheless an extra perk of Xopus that it makes editing understandable and friendly.
