I am using setSaveXMLFunction to define the javascript function that call the url to save the XML on the server.
When the server returns an error during the saving, I received a specific page in my javascript.
How can I inform Xopus editor that the Xml saving process has encountered an error ?

You can return false in your save function. (This information is missing from the documentation of setSaveXMLFunction. We will update it soon.)
