LexisNexis Butterworths Case Study

At ECMPlaza 2007 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, Xopus sponsored a presentation by Lawrence Schapira from LexisNexis Butterworths and myself titled "About the Creation of Useful Information". Lawrence described how LexisNexis Butterworths processes legal content from a verbatim judgement of a civil court case to a rich semantic xml digest which is then published to several online and printed publications.

Key issues LexisNexis Butterworths had to cope with:

  • Law reporters are not interested in techology.
  • Law reporters write digests, they don’t fill forms.
  • It is impossible to reliably create semantic structured information from an unstructured source like html or a Word document.

Watch the presentation slides for more information about how they solved these issues with Xopus Editor.
